ELIoT Energy and Equoia at the CivVic Labs EnergyTech Challenge Showcase!

FB IDEAs is proud to celebrate two of our member startups - ELIoT Energy and Equoia - who are two of only eight startups selected in the Empowering People and Communities stream of the CivVic Labs EnergyTech Challenge.

Delivered by LaunchVic and funded by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), the Challenge brings together 16 innovative Victorian startups in two streams to explore one big question:
How can we use technology to accelerate the transition to renewable energy?

Both ELIoT Energy and Equoia will showcase their breakthrough clean energy technologies at the CivVic Labs EnergyTech Challenge Showcase on Thursday, 20 November 2025, at Melbourne Town Hall.

As part of the FB IDEAs innovation community at Fishermans Bend, both startups have received funding, prototyping support, and pilot opportunities — helping turn their ideas into scalable, real-world solutions that empower local communities and innovative businesses.

ELIoT Energy – Smarter Batteries for Everyday Impact

A long-standing FB IDEAs Hub member, ELIoT Energy is developing smart, renewables-powered plug-and-play batteries for high energy-use refrigeration systems. With FB IDEAs’ support, ELIoT successfully piloted its technology at Six Fifty Sips Café and CBCo Brewing, achieving real-world savings and emissions reductions.

Through the CivVic Labs EnergyTech Challenge, ELIoT has expanded its reach, gaining funding, mentoring, and government partnerships to refine and deploy its battery systems across Victoria — paving the way for more accessible renewable energy storage in everyday operations.

Equoia – Reimagining Mobile Renewable Energy

Equoia is redefining mobile renewable energy with “Baby Power Droids” — portable, solar-compatible battery systems that offer a clean, quiet alternative to diesel and petrol generators in off-grid or temporary settings.

In collaboration with the HivePod demonstration project, Equoia is testing its mobile batteries alongside a solar array to provide continuous, sustainable power. Originating in the film and television industry, the technology is now finding new applications in construction, emergency response, and community events.

Join ELIoT Energy and Equoia as they showcase their innovations and celebrate local pilots, new partnerships, and the people turning clean energy ideas into action.
