From Idea to Prototype: High-Performance 3D Printing for Real-World Applications

  • FB IDEAs Incubator and Innovation Hub Level 1, 650 Lorimer Street Port Melbourne, VIC, 3207 Australia (map)

Join us for a FB IDEAs Lunch & Learn with Hub member STRALIS, an advanced manufacturing and prototyping capability based in Fishermans Bend. Stralis helps founders, engineers and innovators move from idea to physical product — rapidly — using high-performance 3D print manufacturing.

In this session, founder Justin Taylor will share practical insights from building and testing real-world products, including applications in 4WD and off-road environments where strength, weight, durability and performance matter.

Justin will also share how working within the FB IDEAS Hub has accelerated Stralis’ development - from early experimentation through to commercial direction.

Bring your ideas, sketches or questions. There’ll be time after the session to discuss how to get your first prototype underway. You don’t need a finished design — just an idea is enough to get started.

You’ll learn:

  • How to get from concept to your first functional, Australian-made prototype

  • How to iterate quickly without over-investing early

  • How design decisions impact strength, usability and manufacturability

  • Where local, additive manufacturing creates real advantages

Who should attend:

Founders and entrepreneurs with product ideas
Engineers, designers and manufacturing specialists
Anyone looking to prototype, test or build a physical product

Light lunch will be provided.

FREE, but registrations are essential.  Session will be followed by time for networking.

Location:

Located on Level 1/650 Lorimer St, within walking distance of the future Fishermans Bend Innovation Precinct, the Hub is more than a co-working space — it’s a community where the future is being actively built.

The FB IDEAs Incubator and Innovation Hub offers a landing pad for ambitious ideas and an open invitation to collaborate for anyone working at the intersection of sustainability, technology or design.
