Despite growing demand, women remain underrepresented in the engineering sector. According to Engineers Australia’s Women in Engineering Report (June 2022), women represented only 16% or engineering graduates, and just 13% of the engineering workforce in Australia were women.
In a conversational event setting welcoming all genders, we’ll highlight how women and those who identify as women solve complex challenges and drive innovation across the engineering and STEM ecosystem.

Spotlight Speakers:
Kristy Battista
Kristy is CTO of Jupiter Ionics, an Australian startup developing breakthrough green ammonia technology to decarbonise fertiliser production and strengthen food supply chains. With 20 years’ experience spanning the full product development life cycle, she turns complex ideas into real-world solutions. As former CTO of Allume Energy, Kristy developed a world-first solar sharing technology now deployed across three continents.
Alongside her executive work, she advises and coaches startup founders, sharing lessons learned, building cultures of trust, courage, and collaboration. Kristy is a passionate advocate for innovation, driven to solve problems that matter—for both the planet and humanity. She’s known for translating complexity into clarity, inspiring action, and leading with purpose and optimism to create a better future for all.
Riley McAuliffe
Riley is Program Manager for Strategic Partnerships at JET Charge, leading client relationships and initiatives supporting Australia’s shift to electric mobility. Her experience spans EV charging, cleantech startups and environmental engineering, with roles at EnergyLab, Global Voices, and GHD. She is a Clean Energy Council Chloe Munro Scholar and holds a Master of Environment (Distinction) from the University of Melbourne and a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) from the University of Western Australia.
Shiva Quick
Shiva is a Chemical Engineer working on safer and more reliable batteries by developing advanced materials that help prevent battery failure and improve performance. She is a PhD Researcher at Macquarie University.
Olivia Jose
Olivia is a Mechanical Engineer at Andromeda Robotics, focussing on the development and hardware engineering for Abi, the humanoid robot. Olivia’s work involves bringing robotics to life through innovative design and manufacturing. Prior to this, she worked as a consultant and gained experience across a range of fields, including defence, medical, and aerospace. Transitioning into a hands-on role with end-to-end ownership of projects has greatly contributed to her growth as an engineer.
Régine Chantler
Régine is Team Leader for Automation & Sensing at CSIRO, with over 20 years' experience across product development, operations and technical leadership. Her team bridges the gap between cutting-edge research and real-world impact. Her career has taken her around the world. With roots in the Caribbean, engineering studies in Europe and Mexico, and a professional career across the UK and Australia, including a decade managing CSIRO's Flexible Electronics Laboratory.
Alongside her technical leadership, Régine is a passionate advocate for STEM equity and education. She runs work experience for high school students, hosts engineering interns and mentors early-career professionals.
About INWED
This event is presented as part of International Women in Engineering Day (INWED). INWED was initiated in the UK in 2014 as a national campaign by the Women’s Engineering Society, receiving UNESCO patronage in 2016 and becoming international in 2017. The theme for #INWED26 is #EngineeringIntelligence.
