Join FB IDEAs for a panel discussion bringing together key insights from AMW Brisbane and a glimpse into AusMedTech Perth, highlighting emerging trends, opportunities and challenges for the manufacturing sector.

Oded VanHam, from the Australian National Fabrication Facility, and Professor Suresh Palanisamy, Professor of Advanced Manufacturing at Swinburne University of Technology and Chair of the Innovation Taskforce for the recently launched Additive Manufacturing CRC will join us to offer their perspectives.

Jack Hayes, from AusIndustry will also be joining us to provide insights from a Federal Government perspective including practical perspectives on national priorities, innovation support pathways and the broader funding landscape.

Meet the panellists:

Professor Suresh Palanisamy – Chair of the Additive Manufacturing CRC's Innovation Taskforce, Director of Swinburne University of Technology’s Manufacturing Futures Research Platform and Professor of Advanced Manufacturing

The AMCRC’s Innovation Taskforce brings together industry, research and government partners to accelerate the commercialisation of additive manufacturing technologies. The taskforce fosters cross-industry collaboration, connecting organisations from non-competing sectors and enabling knowledge exchange through regional hubs supported by state governments.

Suresh is Director of Swinburne University of Technology’s Manufacturing Futures Research Platform and Professor of Advanced Manufacturing, specialising in metal additive manufacturing. With extensive experience leading major collaborative research programs, including defence and industry initiatives, he is recognised for building partnerships that translate advanced manufacturing research into real- world industrial impact.

Oded VanHam – Client Engagement Facilitator, Australian National Fabrication Facility

ANFF owns and provides open access to capabilities that can assist in both the development of new products and improvements to current production methods. Each Node provides expertise in a specific area, including advanced materials, nanoelectronics & photonics and nano-bio applications.

Oded VanHam is a Client Engagement Facilitator at the Australian National Fabrication Facility (ANFF).  He is responsible for assisting industry and researchers in developing and commercialising technologies by connecting them with ANFF’s cutting edge facilities and expertise.

Oded has spent more than 25 years in the intersection of science and business, with graduate degrees in both. He has worked in in Australia, Canada, and China with biotech start-ups, large research programmes, industry consultancies and in a number of business development roles.

Jack Hayes – Regional Manager – Greater Melbourne, AusIndustry

For over 30 years AusIndustry has been a trusted hub nurturing partnerships and networks for Australian businesses. AusIndustry connects small and medium size businesses with government support to help them grow.

Jack is the AusIndustry Regional Manager for Greater Melbourne within the federal Department of Industry, Science and Resources (DISR). Jack’s career spans innovation and industry policy, commercialisation program delivery, and industry engagement.

Area 53 is a science and innovation platform that specialises in lab and manufacturing spaces for startups, SMEs and large industry, currently building new accelerator labs for the innovation community in Fishermans Bend.

Ashlie is the Associate for Science and Innovation at Area 53. She was a research scientist for 15 years with experience in leading institutions across UK, Europa and Australia and brings a practical approach to scaling business operations with a commercial partner.
