Transport plan for Fishermans Bend released

The Department of Transport and Planning have released an updated Fishermans Bend Integrated Transport Plan.

The Plan shows how the Fishermans Bend transport network is envisaged to evolve over three delivery horizons linked to the growth of the area over time to 80,000 residents, 80,000 workers and 20,000 tertiary students.

The Plan details Fishermans Bend having a multi-modal transport network by the 2050s, with two heavy rail stations supported by tram extensions, high quality bus services, a dense network of walking and cycling routes and road network upgrades to keep freight moving from the Port of Melbourne.

The rail route, initially announced in June 2024, will now be protected in relevant planning schemes, ensuring new buildings and infrastructure do not compromise the future rail infrastructure, while maximising the extent of development that can occur around and near the corridor.
