Celebrate the Birrarung - EoI for 2026 Riverfest events now open

The Birrarung (Yarra River) is an important part of Fishermans Bend - it’s past, present and future! And there is no better platform and festival to build awareness, connection and stewardship of the Birrarung than participating in Riverfest by the Yarra Riverkeeper Association.‍ ‍

Expressions of Interest are now open to host an event at 2026 Birrarung Riverfest. This year's festival runs from Sunday 27 September (World Rivers Day) to Sunday 18 October. Whether you're an individual, community group, artist, educator, local business or organisation, if you have an idea that connects people to the river, it belongs in this program.

Events can be clean-ups, cultural walks, performances, art installations, storytelling, citizen science and more. Last year's festival brought together 76 events and over 3,000 participants. This year promises to be just as wonderful.

We’d love to see Fishermans Bend in the program, so if you have an idea for something in Fishermans Bend that you think FB IDEAs , or someone in our network, can help to realise - get in touch! We are happy to help shape your event idea, broker connections to potential partners etc. Contact info@fbideas.org

EOIs close on 19 June. So check out the guidelines, get creative and submit your event idea!!!
