After partners with Gamuda to offer discounted recycling collection service for end-of-life textiles

We are excited to announce that After is partnering with Gamuda Land Australia and FB IDEAs to launch a 3-month campaign exclusively for current residents of Fishermans Bend and those moving into Gamuda’s The Canopy development in South Melbourne.

From August to October 2025, local residents and those people who will soon be living at Gamuda’s The Canopy development will receive a 10% discount to After’s textile waste collection service - making it easier and more affordable to responsibly dispose of unwearable clothing, linen, and other household textiles.

By diverting these items from landfill, the campaign directly supports Gamuda’s sustainability goals while empowering residents to take climate-positive action from home.  It also showcases the future vision for Fishermans Bend to be a low waste community, aiming to have one of the highest diversion rates in Victoria.

How to get involved

If you have end-of-life textiles you simply have to package them up in a sealed box or bag and book a collection via the After website.   Follow the prompts and enter the code GAMUDA10 to receive the discount.  After will be monitoring booking using this code to ensure you are eligible to receive a discount and may reject your discounted collection booking.

We encourage you to check out the After website to find out what textile items are eligible.  And remember, if they are still wearable we encourage you to donate your clothes to reputable local charities that can re-home them to people in need.   Some options to look into include: South Melbourne Community Chest, Big Group Hug, St Kilda Mums (now part of Our Village).

Once you have booked your collection you simply have to leave it in an accessible location on the collection day, and smile knowing that your un-wearables are on pathway to be recycled and diverted from landfill.

Upcoming collection dates are:

> Monday 25 August (booking by Thursday 21 August 4pm)

> Monday 29 September (booking by Thursday 25 September 4pm)

> Monday 27 October (booking by Thursday 23 October 4pm)

Please check the upcoming collection dates before you book so you are eligible for your preferred collection date.

More about After

Started in 2021 by Yesha Patel, After provides collection services to households and businesses to combat the 300,000 tonnes of textile waste disposed of in landfills each year in Australia.   They offer a convenient, transparent recovery service for households and businesses, collecting unwearable and unsaleable textiles otherwise destined for landfill.  By bridging the gap between textile waste producers and upcyclers/recyclers, they divert waste into recycling for new yarn and upcycling via designers, artists, schools, and brands.

After are one of the Innovators in Residence in the Fishermans Bend Circular Design Collective, where they have been exploring new opportunities to divert textile waste from landfill by experimenting and collaborating with local community partners.
